Yoga Day: Uttar Pradesh government to host Yoga Week from June 15 to 21

The Uttar Pradesh government intends to host a major Yoga Week in the state from June 15 to 21, in honour of the 9th International Yoga Day, which will be held on June 21, 2023. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued orders for public yoga sessions and other activities around the state, with the goal of bringing the ancient practise to every family in Uttar Pradesh, reported HS.

“A detailed action plan has been formulated, under which district-level committees have been formed in all districts of the State, which will monitor the implementation of the action plan and provide necessary assistance in its execution,” the UP Government stated via a press communiqu?.

The UP Government has directed the respective District Magistrates (DM) to preside over district-level committees that will include the Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police (SP), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Development Officer (CDO), Municipal Commissioner, Regional Ayurvedic and Unani Officers, District Homoeopathic Officer, District Education Inspector, Basic Education Officer, Sports Officer, and representatives from non-governmental organisations.

Collective accountability: The State has tasked as many as 23 ministries with organising and coordinating yoga sessions across Uttar Pradesh. The activities will be organised by the district headquarters, tehsil, gram panchayat, block, and police. The state administration also enlisted the help of private organisations to ensure the success of the week-long event.

The Ramakrishna Mission Seva Ashram, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Yoga Institute, Gayatri Parivar, Brahma Kumari Foundation, Patanjali Yoga Institute, Art of Living, and other organisations have participated in Yoga Week.

“A number of events will be held across the state in technical institutions, agricultural universities, higher educational institutions, medical institutions, and AYUSH universities. A thorough strategy is being designed in this respect, and the government would appropriate cash for it,” the Uttar Pradesh government noted. “A number of events will be held across the state in technical institutions, agricultural universities, higher educational institutions, medical institutions, and AYUSH universities.”
