Indian para-badminton star Sukant Kadam has climbed to World No. 2 in the SL4 category in the latest BWF Para-Badminton World Rankings, following a series of outstanding performances at the Spanish Para-Badminton International 2025.
With 53,650 ranking points, Kadam now trails only Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan (56,680 points) while surpassing France’s Lucas Mazur (48,400 points), securing his position among the world’s elite.
Kadam’s ranking surge comes on the back of strong performances across two Grade 2 tournaments and one Grade 1 tournament in Spain. His most notable achievement was clinching the gold medal in the SL4 category at the Grade 2 event, where he dominated fellow Indian Tarun in the final with a 21-13, 21-10 victory.
Reflecting on his win, Kadam said, “Starting 2025 with a gold medal is a great feeling. Each match was a learning experience, and I’m motivated for the rest of the season.”
Although Kadam narrowly missed gold in the Grade 1 event, losing to compatriot Naveen Sivakunar in a closely contested match (14-21, 21-14, 14-21), he remains focused on future competitions. “Reaching World No. 2 is a proud moment, but the goal is to maintain this momentum, especially with major tournaments like the Asian Para Games and World Championships ahead,” he remarked.
Kadam’s rise in the rankings highlights India’s growing dominance in para-badminton, and with a packed international calendar ahead, he will look to continue his exceptional form on the global stage.
