In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed strong support for India’s right to defend itself against terrorism.
The Indian military operation, launched overnight, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
“Israel supports India’s right to self-defence,” Azar posted on X. “Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent.”
Operation Sindoor, described by the Indian Ministry of Defence as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” was executed with surgical precision and avoided civilian or military infrastructure in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, international reactions continued to pour in. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he was closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged the strikes and expressed hope for swift de-escalation. “We just heard about it… I hope it ends very quickly,” Trump said.
UAE’s Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a statement through the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called for restraint and avoidance of further escalation.
India has made it clear that the strikes were in response to the “barbaric” Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali national.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory” with no military infrastructure targeted within Pakistani territory.
“India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the ministry said in a statement.
“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible will be held accountable,” it added.
