‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar’ Abhiyaan concludes with record 18 lakh health camps, benefits over 6.5 crore women

The nationwide “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar” Abhiyaan, a two-week health campaign focused on women, children, and family well-being, concluded on Thursday with an unprecedented outreach across India.

Launched on September 17, the initiative witnessed over 18.08 lakh health camps organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), district hospitals, AIIMS, medical colleges, and other institutions of national importance. The campaign registered a footfall of nearly 10 crore citizens (9.85 crore) and directly benefitted more than 6.5 crore women.

Key Highlights

* Hypertension & Diabetes: 1.78 crore citizens screened for hypertension and 1.72 crore for diabetes.

* Cancer Screening: Over 37 lakh women screened for breast cancer, 19 lakh for cervical cancer, and 69 lakh for oral cancer.

* Maternal & Child Health: 62.6 lakh antenatal check-ups and 1.43 crore child immunisations.

* Anaemia & Nutrition: 1.51 crore screened for anaemia; 1.16 crore reached through nutrition counselling.

* TB & Sickle Cell: 85 lakh TB screenings and 10.23 lakh for sickle cell disease; 10.69 lakh Ni-kshay Mitras registered.

* Other Initiatives: 4.3 lakh blood donors enrolled and 10.69 lakh Ayushman Bharat/PM-JAY cards issued.

Jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD), the Abhiyaan is being described as India’s largest-ever women and child health outreach program. The campaign integrated preventive, promotive, and curative services—ranging from non-communicable disease screening to maternal health, adolescent health, nutrition, mental health, and menstrual hygiene awareness.

Specialty camps hosted by AIIMS and other tertiary hospitals provided advanced diagnostics and treatment, complementing the grassroots work of state governments and community health workers.

Officials noted that the campaign not only improved access to essential health services but also mobilised communities towards healthier lifestyles, with a focus on obesity prevention, improved nutrition, and voluntary blood donation.

With its scale and impact, the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is set to be a milestone in strengthening India’s public health system, particularly in addressing women’s health needs at the community level.
