US makes it harder for SK Hynix, Samsung to make chips in China

The United States is making it more difficult for chipmakers Samsung 005930.KS and SK Hynix 000660.KS to produce chips in China by revoking authorizations that allowed the companies to receive American semiconductor manufacturing equipment there, according to the Federal Register. Asian shares fell and bond yields spiked on nervousness about inflation on Thursday, while the yen's slide past 160-per-dollar had currency traders bracing for Japan to step in and steady it.
