UAE marks 54th National Day with nationwide celebrations
The United Arab Emirates is celebrating its 54th National Day today, Eid Al Etihad marking the historic unification of the emirates in 1971 under the theme “Spirit of the Union.” The day commemorates the formation of the federation by Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with Ras Al Khaimah joining in February 1972 to complete the seven-emirate union.
