Tagore birth anniversary celebrated across Bangladesh

The 163rd birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated across Bangladesh on Wednesday with programmes, events, discussions, art exhibitions being organised at several places. The birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore is celebrated in Bangladesh according to the Bangla Calendar. Tagore was born on 25th of Baishakh in Bangla year 1268 in Kolkata.
 
In the capital city Dhaka, several programmes were organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of Vishwakavi Tagore. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy started its three day programme with a discussion and presentation of song and music. Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury inaugurated the programme on Wednesday Morning at Jatiya Natyashala auditorium of Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka.

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, High Commission of India in Dhaka on Tuesday organised a cultural program in Dhaka to celebrate Ravindra Janm Jayanti. Renowned Rabindra Sangeet exponent Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Shurer Dhara, a prestigious music school in Dhaka presented Ravindra songs and dances at the event.

Cultural organisation Chhayanaut organised a music programme with rendering of Rabindra Sangeet in its auditorium in Dhaka. It was attended by a large number of common people.

In Kushtia, at Rabindra Kuthibari, local administration organised  a  two-day village fair in which more than 50 musical groups from Bangladesh and abroad will perform in the cultural function.  

In Khulna, Women and Children Affairs of Bangladesh Simin Hossain Rimi inaugurated a three-day long programme and folk fair to mark Rabindra Jayanti in a befitting manner at Dakshindihi Rabindra Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Cultural functions, discussions, essay writing and poem recitation competitions were held by all educational institutions across the country, including the capital, to celebrate the anniversary.
