Sunil Narine has definitively ruled out a return to West Indies’ squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and USA, stating that “the door is now closed”, despite his impressive form for Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL.

On his official Instagram handle, Narine shared his sentiments about the outpouring of support he has received following his IPL performances. “I’m truly flattered and humbled that my recent performances have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Narine said.

He expressed his full backing for his teammates who are set to compete in the upcoming tournament. Narine mentioned that he has made peace with his decision, and although he never wants to disappoint anyone, he believes that chapter has now closed.

The IPL legend affirmed his support for the West Indies players set to take the field in June, acknowledging their hard work and dedication, and highlighting that they deserve the opportunity to compete for and win the title.

Narine concluded by sending his best wishes to all, confirming his retirement from World Cup participation while fully endorsing his national team.

The star all-rounder has been in outstanding form this season, delivering impressive performances with both the ball and bat for KKR. He is currently the joint-highest wicket-taker for the Kolkata Knight Riders and has also shouldered the responsibility to provide KKR with brisk starts at the top with Philip Salt.
