TRAI issues new draft to reshape broadcasting and cable distribution industry

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday issued the draft Telecommunication (Broadcasting and Cable) Services Interconnection (Addressable Systems) (Seventh Amendment) Regulations, 2025, inviting comments from stakeholders across the sector.

The draft follows a consultation paper released on August 9, 2024, on the audit-related provisions of the 2017 Addressable Systems Regulations and the Digital Addressable Systems Audit Manual. Stakeholders were invited to provide feedback on the proposals outlined in the consultation paper.

The objective of the new draft regulation is to seek suggestions and comments on the proposed amendments from all stakeholders before finalisation.

The full text of the draft regulation is available on TRAI’s official website at www.trai.gov.in. Written comments are invited by October 6, 2025, and may be submitted electronically to Dr. Deepali Sharma, Advisor (B&CS), and Ms. Sapna Sharma, Joint Advisor (B&CS), at advbcs-2@trai.gov.in and jtadv-bcs@trai.gov.in.
