Two-day ‘Nepal International Tourism Expo’ kick starts in Kathmandu Valley today

A two-day ‘Nepal International Tourism Expo (NITE)’ kick starts in Kathmandu valley today organised to promote Nepal’s tourism in the international market.  Inaugurating the fair, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, expressed the belief that the fair would be fruitful in promoting Nepal’s tourism worldwide.

Minister Tamang underscored that the ministry has been carrying out activities with a commitment to fulfil the government’s goal of bringing in at least 1.6 million tourists this year by resolving problems seen in the tourism sector. Sharing that activities are underway to waive VAT and other unnecessary taxes imposed on air tickets. 

The event is organised with the support of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and other associations. The event is scheduled to be held from June 14 to 15, 2024 at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall.

The expo aims to bring together tourism-related businesses like hotels, resorts, homestays, travel/tour/trekking/mountaineering agencies, airlines and stakeholders from both domestic and international sectors to promote Nepal’s overall tourism and bring in information on tourism from other popular destinations like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Dubai, Bhutan, India and others. 

One hundred fifty-five entrepreneurs from 16 countries –Nepal, India, Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Maldives, America, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, China, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Malaysia and Bhutan have been participating in the two-day fair. The government of Bihar participated in the expo to share about opportunities in the Guru Circuit, Jain Circuit, Ramayan Circuit, Buddhist Circuit and Ecotourism in Valmiki Tiger Reserve

At the expo, various national and international tourism stakeholders are getting a two-day networking opportunity to foster new collaborations and establish sustainable partnerships. This event is expected to serve as a platform for increasing business contacts and promoting Nepal’s tourism industry.

The expo features panel discussions on various topics related to tourism. These discussions delved into the multifaceted aspects of Nepal’s tourism, paving the way for addressing current tourism policies, challenges, and solutions.
