Two Filipino seafarers were killed in an Iranian attack on an oil tanker owned by Bahri, Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company. The company confirmed the fatalities onboard its vessel Sidr, which it said was involved in a security incident late night on Wednesday, 31st August.

Saudi Arabia condemned Iran’s targeting of the tanker. The Saudi Foreign Ministry also condemned Iran’s attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, and expressed full support and solidarity with the three countries in measures taken to protect their security and sovereignty.

Kuwait also expressed condemnation of Iranian aggression that targeted the Saudi tanker and called it a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to the security of maritime navigation, its safety, and global energy supplies. It called for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions.
