Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Sopore area of Baramulla district, Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
The operation, a joint effort between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, resulted in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials, the Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X.
The operation was launched on Thursday after security forces detected suspicious activities in the area.
Terrorist activity in Jammu and Kashmir ha surged in recent weeks, with security forces engaging in multiple encounters. On Wednesday, an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in the Margi area of Lolab, Kupwara. In a separate operation the same day, security forces eliminated a terrorist in Bandipora.
Earlier, on Tuesday, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF was launched in Chuntawadi Kaitsan, Bandipora, following another terrorist encounter. The same day, the J&K Police and the CRPF also apprehended a terrorist associate, Ashiq Hussain Wani, a resident of Tujar Shareef in Sopore.
