Direct passenger flights between the UAE and Iran have resumed after a suspension of several months following the regional conflict that began on February 28, signalling the gradual restoration of air links between the two countries.
According to Dubai Airports’ flight schedule, Iranian carrier FlySepehran operated a scheduled flight between Dubai International Airport and Tehran on Monday. The airline’s aircraft arrived in Dubai from Tehran earlier in the day, marking the first direct commercial passenger service on the route since the conflict led to the suspension of flights.
Flight operations remain limited, with services being restored in phases as airlines gradually resume scheduled operations. Iran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport reopened on June 9, following which several carriers have progressively reinstated selected international routes.
The return of direct flights comes even as regional tensions persist. While diplomatic efforts have helped ease hostilities in recent weeks, aviation authorities and airlines continue to closely assess the security environment. Several international carriers are still maintaining precautionary measures and adjusting flight paths through parts of the region as a safety measure.
