UAE Marks 10th International Day of Yoga with Massive Celebrations

The United Arab Emirates witnessed an impressive display of unity and wellness as Abu Dhabi and Dubai hosted grand celebrations for the 10th International Day of Yoga.

In Abu Dhabi, the Indian Embassy collaborated with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council to organize a Common Yoga Protocol session at the National Exhibition Centre. Over 1,500 participants joined the event, which was graced by Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. Minister Al Nahyan hailed yoga’s importance for both individual well-being and societal harmony.

Meanwhile, Dubai saw an even larger gathering, with more than 5,000 people converging at the World Trade Centre. The Indian mission in Dubai, in partnership with Friends of India, Arab Yoga Instructors Council, and Dubai Sports Council, orchestrated this monumental celebration. The two-hour program in Dubai began with an introduction to Ashtanga Yoga, followed by sessions catering to various skill levels. Consul General Satish Kumar Sivan emphasized yoga’s profound impact, stating, “The essence of Indian culture encourages humans to adopt the pathway which leads to the ultimate truth.” He added that yoga’s true significance lies in creating “conscious human beings who see all life as one.”

These large-scale events not only underscored the UAE’s commitment to health and wellness but also highlighted its role as a global melting pot of cultures. The enthusiastic participation across both cities demonstrates the growing popularity of yoga in the UAE, bridging diverse communities and promoting holistic well-being.
