Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will officially launch the BHARATPOL portal, developed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in New Delhi on Tuesday. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.
The new portal is expected to significantly enhance real-time information sharing among law enforcement agencies (LEAs), ensuring quicker and more efficient access to international police assistance.
The CBI, which serves as the National Central Bureau (NCB-New Delhi) for INTERPOL in India, will manage the portal.
The BHARATPOL platform will improve collaboration between central, state, and union territory law enforcement agencies by providing a unified platform for processing international requests related to criminal investigations, including the issuance of Red Notices and other INTERPOL notices.
This development is particularly important given the growing threat of transnational crimes, such as cybercrime, financial fraud, human trafficking, and organized crime.
The BHARATPOL portal will serve as a transformative tool for field-level police officers, improving their ability to address crimes and security challenges effectively.
The portal is designed to streamline the communication between the CBI and INTERPOL Liaison Officers (ILOs) and Unit Officers (UOs), replacing outdated methods of communication like letters, emails, and faxes with faster, digital solutions.
During the event, Amit Shah will also present Police Medals to 35 CBI officers who have been recognized for their distinguished service and excellence in investigation.
The event will be attended by senior officials from various ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs, and the Central Vigilance Commission.
