Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveils Major Housing initiative for Madhya Pradesh

In a significant boost to housing development in Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, presented a monumental housing initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

On behalf of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, he announced that 8.21 lakh families in the state will receive pucca houses at a cost of Rs 12,636 crore, with completion expected by April-May next year.

The grand event, held in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh, witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, State Ministers Prahlad Patel and Lakhan Patel, MLA Mukesh Tandon, and several other public representatives. The event commenced with a Kanya Pujan ceremony, followed by an enthusiastic roadshow where thousands of citizens welcomed Shivraj Singh and the Chief Minister.

During the ceremony, the Union Minister handed over the official approval letter for the housing scheme to the Chief Minister, announcing that Madhya Pradesh will receive a total of 14 lakh houses within a year, a record allocation for the state. These houses are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to ensure that every poor family in the country has a pucca house.

Shivraj Singh expressed his commitment to serving the people of Madhya Pradesh, stating, “Our relationship is built on love and affection. The Prime Minister’s resolve is to provide a pucca house to every poor person, and I am dedicated to fulfilling this mission.”

The minister further highlighted that Madhya Pradesh had previously received 3.68 lakh houses in September, and with the addition of today’s allocation, the total number of houses allocated to the state in the financial year will reach 8.21 lakh.

He also announced that another 8.21 lakh houses will be provided by April, bringing the total value of housing projects in Madhya Pradesh to Rs 30,672 crore.

Shivraj Singh also announced other significant developments for the state, including the formation of Vidisha Municipal Corporation and a new irrigation scheme survey. Madhya Pradesh has also received Rs 5,628 crore under MNREGA and Rs 263 crore under the PM Gram Sadak Yojana, with an additional Rs 500 crore to be released soon.

Furthermore, Rs 312.74 crore has been allocated to the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) to support women in becoming financially independent.

The Union Minister also announced the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which will connect rural areas with populations of 500 and 250. Additional funds of Rs 435 crore will be provided to support agricultural schemes such as greenhouses and poly houses, benefiting farmers across the state.

On this occasion, Shivraj Singh administered a pledge in support of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ reiterating the government’s commitment to unified and efficient governance.

This housing initiative marks a significant step toward improving the living conditions of poor families in Madhya Pradesh, aligning with the government’s vision of inclusive development and rural upliftment.
