Rajasthan Royals’ 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a blistering 35-ball century — the second-fastest in IPL history — as his side chased down 210 with ease, defeating Gujarat Titans by eight wickets.
Chasing 210, Rajasthan’s opening duo—Suryavanshi (101 off 38 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (70 off 40)—blasted a 166-run partnership in 11.5 overs, effectively sealing the match. Suryavanshi’s whirlwind innings featured seven fours and eleven sixes, second only to Chris Gayle’s 30-ball ton in IPL records. His dismissal by Prasidh Krishna did little to slow RR’s charge.
Captain Riyan Parag (32* off 15) and Jaiswal ensured a calm finish after the brief stutter caused by the quick dismissal of Nitish Rana (4). Parag struck two fours and two sixes to see RR over the line.
Earlier, GT posted 209/4 after being put into bat. Shubman Gill led the way with a fluent 84 off 50 balls, supported by Jos Buttler (50 off 26)* and Sai Sudharsan (39). Partnerships of 93 (Gill-Sudharsan) and 74 (Gill-Buttler) laid a strong foundation. GT crossed the 200-mark courtesy some late hitting by Washington Sundar and Rahul Tewatia.
In the bowling department, Maheesh Theekshana (2/35) was RR’s standout, while Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with a wicket apiece. For GT, only Rashid Khan (1/24) managed to keep things tight amid the RR onslaught.
Brief Scores:
GT: 209/4 (Gill 84, Buttler 50*; Theekshana 2/35)
RR: 212/2 in 15.5 overs (Suryavanshi 101, Jaiswal 70; Rashid 1/24)
