Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday shared an article by Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighting the enduring legacy of India’s national song ‘Vande Mataram’, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
The Prime Minister noted that the song, written during the colonial era, became a “dawn-song of awakening,” blending cultural pride with civilisational nationalism and inspiring generations during India’s struggle for freedom.
Addressing the significance of the song on its 150th anniversary, PM Modi said: “Union Minister Amit Shah writes about Bharat’s national song, the eternal song of India’s freedom. He notes that Vande Mataram continues to inspire our vision of a confident, self-reliant, and resurgent Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The Prime Minister encouraged citizens to read the article, emphasizing how the spirit of Vande Mataram continues to guide India’s journey towards a developed, self-reliant, and progressive nation.
The song, first published in Bangadarshan as part of Chattopadhyay’s novel Anandamath, remains a symbol of India’s cultural pride, unity, and devotion to the motherland, reflecting the aspirations of citizens across generations.
