The National Round of Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026 concluded on Wednesday with an award ceremony at the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, bringing together 105 young leaders from across states and Union Territories for two days of parliamentary deliberations and discussions on the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
Addressing the participants, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse said India’s youth must become active stakeholders in the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. She described the Youth Parliament as a platform that enables young people to engage with democratic institutions, contribute to national discourse and participate in nation-building efforts. Khadse also highlighted MY Bharat as a key initiative for channeling youth aspirations and participation in national development.
Organised by the Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the programme featured debates, Question Hour, short-duration discussions and deliberations on issues of national importance. Participants were selected through district and state-level rounds.
The event concluded with awards being presented to Riya Pandey (Delhi) for Best Opening Speaker, Apurva Sharma (Haryana) for Best Question, Kepozo Kapuh (Nagaland) for Best Responder and Sain Chirag Kumar (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu) for Best Short Discussion.
During the programme, Dr. Sarah Jayal Sawkmie, Director (International Cooperation), delivered a session on India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, highlighting the bloc’s growing significance and India’s demographic dividend.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Priyanka Shukla, CEO of MY Bharat, said the programme had not only brought together 105 participants but had also inspired 105 new dreams and aspirations.
