Vivek Ramaswamy calls meeting with PM Modi a ‘pleasure and honour’ after bilateral talks in Washington

Indian-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy expressed his delight after a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Blair House in Washington DC, calling it a “pleasure and honour” to welcome the Indian leader to the United States.

“It was a pleasure and honour to welcome Prime Minister Modi here. Hope he has a wonderful visit and it was a great meeting,” Ramaswamy said following the discussions with PM Modi.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the two leaders engaged in insightful discussions on India-US ties, innovation, biotechnology, and the role of entrepreneurship in shaping the future.

Ramaswamy, who had earlier vied for the Republican presidential nomination before endorsing Donald Trump, has been a vocal advocate for strengthening US-India relations. He had previously served as co-head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Elon Musk but stepped down from the role reportedly due to differences with the Tesla CEO.

PM Modi, who arrived in the US on Wednesday for his first visit since Donald Trump’s re-election, is set to meet the US President at the White House later in the day. Upon his arrival, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to enhancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, highlighting the visit as an opportunity to build on past successes and foster deeper cooperation.

India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with other officials, welcomed PM Modi at the airport, marking the start of a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
