Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to ‘Nari Shakti,’ acknowledging the strength and contributions of women on International Women’s Day.
In a post on X, PM Modi announced that his social media platforms would be taken over by women from diverse fields to showcase their achievements.
“We bow to our Nari Shakti on #WomensDay! Our government has always worked towards empowering women, which is reflected in our schemes and programmes. Today, as promised, my social media accounts will be taken over by women who have made a mark in various fields!”the Prime Minister wrote.
Earlier, on February 23, PM Modi had announced that, as a special gesture, he would hand over his social media accounts—including X and Instagram—to a select group of inspiring women on March 8. These women would use the platforms to share their work and experiences with the nation.
In the 119th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister elaborated on this initiative, stating that women excelling in various fields would share their achievements, experiences, and challenges with the country.
“This time, on Women’s Day, I am taking an initiative dedicated to our women’s power. On this special occasion, I will hand over my social media accounts to a few inspiring women in our country for one day. These women have achieved success in different fields, introduced innovations, and made a distinct mark. On March 8, they will share their journey with the nation,” he said.
“The platform may be mine, but the stories, challenges, and achievements discussed will be theirs,” he added.
PM Modi also invited women to participate in this initiative via the NAMO App and encouraged them to use this opportunity to spread their messages globally.
“If you want to be part of this initiative, join through the special forum created on the NAMO App. Use this platform to share your message with the world through my X and Instagram accounts. This Women’s Day, let us celebrate and honor the indomitable power of women,” he urged.
