Weather disruptions affect operations at Dubai International Airport

Dubai International Airport is experiencing operational disruptions this morning as adverse weather conditions lead to multiple flight delays and cancellations Periods of rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds that began on Thursday evening have continued into Friday, prompting airlines and airport authorities to issue travel advisories. Weather forecasters indicate that unsettled conditions, including reduced visibility at times, may continue until midday. IndiGo has advised passengers travelling to and from the UAE to expect possible schedule changes.

Emirates has confirmed the cancellation of several flights on Friday, while a number of services have been rescheduled or delayed. The airline began facing operational challenges on Thursday as changing weather conditions affected runway use and visibility.Other carriers, including flydubai, Turkish Airlines, Saudia, Kuwait Airways and Qatar Airways, have also reported delays and cancellations linked to their Dubai operations.

Airport authorities have urged passengers to check their flight status before travelling to the airport and to plan for additional travel time. Travellers are also advised to remain in contact with their airlines for the latest updates. Dubai International Airport, which handles over eighty million passengers each year, is a key global transit hub. Any disruption at the airport can have wider implications for international flight schedules and connecting passengers.

The UAE’s National Center of Meteorology said it is closely monitoring the situation, with conditions expected to gradually improve by Friday afternoon. In response to the prevailing conditions, several government and private sector entities have allowed employees to work remotely on Friday, where operationally feasible.
