Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday praised six inspiring women who took over his social media accounts on International Women’s Day, highlighting their remarkable journeys and contributions to the nation.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Since morning, you’ve all seen inspiring posts by extraordinary women sharing their journeys and motivating others. These women come from different parts of India and have excelled in diverse fields, but one common thread unites them—the prowess of India’s Nari Shakti.” He further emphasised that their determination and success exemplify the limitless potential of women, adding, “Today and every day, we celebrate their contributions in shaping a Viksit Bharat.”
This unique initiative, first announced by PM Modi during his Mann Ki Baat address on February 23, provided an opportunity for six accomplished women to share their stories through his social media platforms. The selected women, representing different regions and fields, showcased empowerment through their achievements.
Among them was Vaishali Rameshbabu from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a Chess Grandmaster who has been competing at the highest level since the age of six. Her dedication to the sport culminated in earning the prestigious Grandmaster title in 2023. She continues to make India proud on the global chess stage with her strategic brilliance.
Anita Devi from Nalanda, Bihar, known as the Mushroom Lady of Bihar, also shared her journey. Overcoming hardships, she established the Madhopur Farmers Producers Company in 2016, empowering hundreds of rural women through mushroom cultivation. Her initiative has helped women achieve financial independence and provided employment opportunities in the region.
Elina Mishra from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and Shilpi Soni from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, narrated their experiences as leading scientists contributing to India’s progress in research and technology. Mishra serves as a nuclear scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai, while Soni is a space scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Their contributions highlight the growing influence of Indian women in scientific advancements.
Ajaita Shah from Rajasthan, the Founder and CEO of Frontier Markets, has been instrumental in transforming rural entrepreneurship. Through her initiative, over 35,000 digitally skilled women entrepreneurs have been empowered, helping bridge the gap between local markets and economic development by distributing essential goods and services.
Dr Anjlee Agarwal from Delhi, a longtime advocate for universal accessibility, also shared her story. As the founder of Samarthyam Centre for Universal Accessibility, she has spent more than three decades working toward inclusive mobility and barrier-free infrastructure, ensuring that schools and public spaces become more accessible for people with disabilities.
The stories of these women serve as a testament to the strength, resilience, and determination of Indian women in shaping the nation’s future. Their achievements reinforce the belief that women are not just participants but pioneers in various fields, contributing significantly to the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Through this initiative, PM Modi successfully highlighted the inspiring journeys of these exceptional women, encouraging others to follow their path and contribute to India’s progress.
