Yoga Sangam at ITRA Jamnagar draws over 2,000 participants on International Day of Yoga 2026

The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, under the Ministry of Ayush, marked the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with a Yoga Sangam programme at Dhanvantari Ground, witnessing the participation of more than 2,000 people.

Students, faculty members, staff, CISF personnel, officials and employees of the WHO-Global Traditional Medicine Centre (WHO-GTMC), along with local citizens, took part in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session, reflecting the growing acceptance of yoga as a way of life.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director of ITRA, and was attended by several dignitaries. Participants performed various yogic practices aimed at promoting holistic health and well-being.

A major attraction of the event was a special ‘Yoga Fusion’ performance by students of ITRA’s Yoga Department, which creatively combined music and yoga and received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Another highlight was the audio-visual presentation titled “Yoga: A Journey from Me to We”, which showcased yoga’s global journey and its growing international recognition. The presentation highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking India’s ancient yoga tradition to the global stage.

The presentation was prepared by Prof. Vaidya Manoj Nesari with support from ITRA and its ANCN TV channel team, adding significance to the celebrations.

The event concluded with a collective message encouraging people to incorporate yoga into their daily lives to achieve better health, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle.
