Critical health care has been out of common man's reach in the country for long. For many suffering from serious heart ailments, stent implant becomes imminent. But the problem arises when those in urgent need of stent implant aren't able to afford it. But things have changed now. Taking a cue from 'Make In India' programme, Gujarat is leading by example for developing stents in the country.
Setting up an advanced unit for stent manufacturing was also a herculean task. Another major challenge was to keep the quality of indigenously made stents at par with foreign made stents. The 'Make In India' inspired unit has also created employment opportunities. Besides, the domestically manufactured stents have shown a new ray of hope to the poor who were not able to get the implant done due to their high prices.
