Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person during an attempted burglary at his Bandra residence on Thursday, sustaining “six stab wounds,” with “two being deep,” according to doctors from Lilavati Hospital.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, confirmed that Saif was brought to the hospital at 3:30 a.m. following the incident. “This one is close to the spine. He is being operated on by a team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi,” said Dr. Uttamani.
Saif’s team released an official statement confirming the attempted burglary and his current medical condition. “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter,” the statement said.
According to sources cited by IANS, Saif fought the intruder without a weapon to protect his family. “This happened in the middle of the night. He fought bravely to prevent his family from being harmed and sustained injuries in the process. The intruder had a weapon, while Saif had nothing,” the source added.
The Mumbai Police have launched an investigation, and CCTV footage from the area surrounding Saif’s house is being reviewed. According to reports, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and their children, Taimur and Jeh, are safe.
On the work front, the actor was last seen in ‘Devara: Part 1’, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and NTR Jr.
