After 7 years hiatus, Mayawati to kickstart poll campaign in western UP

After a hiatus of seven years, Mayawati, the supremo of the Bahujan Samaj Party, is set to kickstart her Lok Sabha election campaign in western Uttar Pradesh with a rally in Muzaffarnagar on April 14.

From April 14 to April 23, Mayawati will host rallies to support BSP candidates in Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Rampur, Moradabad, Bijnor, Nagina, Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Amroha, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Meerut, and Hapur. In the 2019 elections, BSP candidates secured 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Bijnor, Nagina, Saharanpur, and Amroha. The seats up for election in the first round this year include a significant number of Dalit and minority community voters.

Party members, who are busy preparing for ‘Behen Ji’s’ events, believe that the rallies will be historic and that the ground situation will change after April 14. Mayawati will hold a rally at the Government Inter College in support of the party’s Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha candidate Dara Singh Prajapati and Bijnor candidate Vijender Singh Chaudhary, as per Satish Kumar Ravi, the head of the BSP Muzaffarnagar unit.

He mentioned that local party workers will be joined by people from adjacent places like Sardhana (Meerut) as massive audiences are expected during Mayawati’s rallies. This will mark Mayawati’s first rally in Muzaffarnagar since 2017, and all party members are excited about the upcoming preparations.

“It will be a historic rally,” he added.
