Air India on Tuesday operated its first flight from Dubai to New Delhi amid the ongoing West Asia tensions, with 149 passengers and eight crew members arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In a post on X, Air India said: “We are happy to welcome our guests and crew from Dubai aboard flight AI916D. This is the first flight by an Indian carrier to arrive in New Delhi today with 149 passengers and 8 operating crew members onboard, amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East.”
Air India thanked its teams, the Government of India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and local authorities in Dubai for facilitating the operation.
Meanwhile, Dubai Airports announced a limited resumption of operations from the evening of March 2, allowing a small number of flights to operate from Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).
Authorities, however, advised travellers not to proceed to the airports unless contacted directly by their airline with a confirmed departure time.
Flight disruptions in the region followed US-Israel strikes against Iran on February 28 and Tehran’s retaliatory drone and missile attacks, which triggered cancellations across multiple West Asian air corridors.
