The Rajasthan government on Friday signed MoUs with several institutions, including the English and Foreign Languages University and the National Skill Development Corporation, during a ceremony for the Foreign Language Communication Skills Programme at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said Rajasthan’s youth possess a natural aptitude for hard work, innovation, entrepreneurship, and cultural adaptability. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he noted, young people are increasingly focusing on skill development rather than just academic degrees.
Pradhan highlighted that the proposed free trade agreement with the European Union could create new employment opportunities linked to foreign language proficiency. He emphasised that language is not merely a tool for communication but also a means of understanding and connecting societies.
Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he said it is a key step towards building a developed India, with a strong focus on multilingual and global education. Learning languages such as French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish, he added, will significantly enhance employment prospects for youth.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mother tongues have been prioritised in early education. He noted that local languages preserve cultural heritage, instil confidence, and strengthen emotional roots, while foreign languages enhance global communication skills.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said incidents such as paper leaks under the previous government had caused serious injustice to the youth. He asserted that the current administration has addressed the issue effectively.
“So far, 351 examinations have been conducted with complete transparency, and not a single paper has been leaked,” he said, adding that the government is empowering youth by linking them with employment opportunities and encouraging them to become job creators.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, the Chief Minister urged young people to learn foreign languages and excel both nationally and globally.
He added that, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for skill development, the state has signed MoUs with the English and Foreign Languages University and the National Skill Development Corporation. These initiatives will enable youth to learn languages such as French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
Highlighting Rajasthan’s tourism potential, Sharma said foreign language skills are particularly valuable in a state that attracts visitors from across the world. With tourism expanding rapidly due to government initiatives, employment opportunities have grown for guides, hotel managers, travel agents, and entrepreneurs proficient in foreign languages.
