Union Minister Piyush Goyal will move a motion in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday seeking permission to withdraw The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, as Parliament continues the second phase of the Union Budget 2026-27 session.
The Bill, originally introduced in 2025, seeks to amend various laws to decriminalise and rationalise minor offences, with the aim of promoting trust-based governance and improving ease of living and doing business. According to the revised List of Business, the withdrawal follows recommendations made by a Select Committee.
Key parliamentary proceedings
The day’s agenda in the Lok Sabha is expected to be dominated by discussion and voting on Demands for Grants for the financial year 2026-27, covering key ministries, including Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Ministry of Home Affairs.
Additionally, Kiren Rijiju and Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh will move a motion regarding the Fifteenth Report of the Business Advisory Committee, presented on March 16.
Committee reports to be tabled
Several Parliamentary Standing Committees are scheduled to present key reports during the session:
* Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and BJP MP Vishnu Dayal Ram will present reports of the Committee on Home Affairs, including action-taken reports on previous recommendations related to Demands for Grants (2025-26).
* BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and Rabindra Narayan Behera will table reports concerning the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for Demands for Grants (2026-27).
* Members Shashi Tharoor and Arvind Ganpat Sawant will present the 13th report of the Committee on External Affairs, reviewing government action on recommendations related to the evaluation of India’s Indian Ocean strategy.
* The Standing Committee on Finance will submit reports concerning the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Planning, and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
* Reports will also be tabled by the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Textiles, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
* MP Sunil Dattatrey Tatkare will present the 7th report of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas related to Demands for Grants (2026-27).
The House will begin proceedings with the Question Hour, followed by the laying of papers by ministers, including Virendra Kumar and Giriraj Singh.
