The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the Class 12 board examination results, recording an overall pass percentage of 85.20 per cent, lower than last year’s 88.39 per cent.
According to the board, a total of 18,57,517 students registered for the examinations this year. Of these, 17,68,968 students appeared and 15,07,109 cleared the exams.
Girls once again outperformed boys in the examinations. The pass percentage among girls stood at 88.86 per cent, while boys recorded 82.13 per cent. Transgender students registered a 100 per cent pass rate.
Region-wise, students from the Delhi zone performed above the national average. Delhi West recorded a pass percentage of 92.34 per cent, while Delhi East stood at 91.73 per cent. A total of 3,01,977 students from the Delhi zone registered for the examinations, of whom 3,00,732 appeared and 2,76,583 passed.
The CBSE also highlighted a major technological shift in the evaluation process this year. Around 98,66,622 answer sheets were evaluated digitally, making it one of the largest digital assessment exercises undertaken by the board.
For the first time, CBSE implemented its ‘On-Screen Marking’ system on a full scale as part of its digital evaluation initiative.
The Class 12 board examinations were conducted between February 17 and April 10 across 19,967 schools and 7,573 examination centres nationwide. Last year, the examinations were held across 19,299 schools and 7,330 centres.
