Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude on Thursday to Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd) for approving the Uttarakhand Public and Private Property Damage Recovery (Ordinance) Act, 2024.
The new law aims to hold rioters accountable for damages to both public and private property, ensuring that the costs of repairs and the expenses incurred by government personnel involved in riot control are compensated. According to Dhami, the ordinance is a crucial step in maintaining order and safeguarding the region’s assets.
Dhami emphasized that there will be zero tolerance for any disruptions to law and order or damage to the environment in “Devbhoomi” Uttarakhand. He assured that the law will be strictly enforced across the state to preserve peace and stability.
