Some respite from cold is expected in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, said that cold day to severe cold day conditions are likely to reduce over northwest India from Thursday, January 11. However, it added that dense fog is likely to continue to prevail during the morning hours in isolated pockets of northwest India during next 4-5 days.
According to the IMD, cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely to continue in some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab and in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh on January 10 is likely to reduce into cold day conditions in isolated
pockets on January 11 and abate thereafter.
Meanwhile, in isolated pockets of Rajasthan, cold day conditions are very likely to continue on January 10 and 11 and decline thereafter. Furthermore, ground frost conditions are very likely over Uttarakhand on January 11 and 12.
Fog forecast:
Further, Dense to very dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail for a few hours in morning in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan on January 11 and 12, and reduction thereafter, as per the IMD.
Dense fog conditions are also very likely to prevail for a few hours in morning in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura during January 11-15; over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim on January 11 and 12.
Rainfall predicted in parts of India:
During the next 2 days, light to moderate rainfall is very likely at some places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and
Lakshadweep, after which dry weather is forecast. This is under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that is lying over Kerala coast in lower tropospheric levels.
