Cold wave persists in central and northern India; heavy rainfall forecast for southern states

Cold wave conditions continued across central and parts of northwest and east India on Sunday, with temperatures expected to remain low for the next two to three days before a slight rise.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several regions, particularly Madhya Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, experienced cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in the past 24 hours. Minimum temperatures in many parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand remained below 10°C. Across Punjab, eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas, temperatures also stayed lower than normal by 3-5°C.

Cold wave conditions are likely to persist over parts of Madhya Pradesh from November 17 to 19, and over isolated areas of western Rajasthan, central Maharashtra, Vidarbha, eastern Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand at different intervals between November 17 and 19 . Northeast India may experience shallow to moderate fog during the week.
