Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his government’s commitment to boosting Uttarakhand’s economy through tourism ahead of his scheduled visit to the Mukhwa Devi temple on Thursday.

PM Modi will perform pooja and darshan at the winter seat of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa at 9:30 AM before flagging off a trek and bike rally. He will then address a public gathering in Harsil at 10:40 AM, the Prime Minister’s Office stated.

“We are committed to further strengthening Uttarakhand’s economy by promoting tourism in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. In this regard, I will have the opportunity to worship Maa Ganga in Mukhwa tomorrow morning and later interact with my family members in Harsil,” PM Modi posted on X.

Expressing his excitement about the visit, the Prime Minister described Mukhwa as a place of spiritual significance and breathtaking beauty, highlighting its role in preserving India’s heritage while fostering development.

“I am eager to visit the winter abode of Maa Ganga in Mukhwa, a site renowned worldwide for its sacredness and scenic beauty. It stands as a shining example of our commitment to heritage and progress,” he added.

PM Modi also welcomed the Uttarakhand government’s Winter Tourism initiative, aimed at promoting religious tourism while creating economic opportunities for local businesses and homestays.

“The double-engine government of Uttarakhand has launched a special programme this year to boost winter tourism. This initiative is not only encouraging religious tourism but also helping local businesses, including homestays, thrive,” he said.

Under the Winter Tourism programme, thousands of devotees have already visited the winter seats of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
