Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan hails strong UAE-India ties after meeting PM Modi

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum on Tuesday praised the enduring partnership between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Sheikh Hamdan, who arrived in the national capital earlier in the day for a two-day official visit, described the bilateral relationship as one “built on trust, shaped by history, and driven by a shared vision to create a future full of opportunity, innovation, and lasting prosperity.”

In a post on X, the Crown Prince wrote: “It was a pleasure meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi today in New Delhi. Our conversations reaffirmed the strength of UAE–India ties, which is built on trust, shaped by history, and driven by a shared vision to create a future full of opportunity, innovation, and lasting prosperity.”

PM Modi also expressed his appreciation for the meeting, highlighting Dubai’s crucial role in advancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

“Glad to meet HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai. Dubai has played a key role in advancing the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This special visit reaffirms our deep-rooted friendship and paves the way for even stronger collaboration in the future,” PM Modi posted on X.

This visit marks Sheikh Hamdan’s first official trip to India as Crown Prince and comes at the invitation of PM Modi. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation including senior UAE ministers and prominent business leaders.

As part of his official engagements, Sheikh Hamdan also held separate meetings with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

Welcoming the Crown Prince, Jaishankar wrote on X: “Delighted to welcome Crown Prince of Dubai and DPM & Minister of Defence of UAE HH Hamdan Mohammed at the start of his first official visit to India. Value his positive sentiments for our wide-ranging cooperation and vibrant ties.”

Following his meetings in New Delhi, Sheikh Hamdan will travel to Mumbai to attend a business roundtable with Indian and Emirati business leaders. The session will focus on strengthening economic collaboration across traditional sectors like infrastructure and energy, while also exploring newer areas such as fintech, innovation, and sustainability.

India and the UAE share a longstanding relationship built on deep cultural, economic, and strategic ties. Dubai serves as a vital hub for Indian businesses and hosts a large Indian diaspora—around 4.3 million strong—many of whom reside in Dubai.
