Delhi gets relief from humid weather as rain lashes parts of national capital

Rainfall swept through parts of Delhi on Thursday, offering relief from the humid weather. Visuals from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi showed light drizzle.

The national capital recorded its highest rainfall in 88 years last month. As per the Indian Meteorological Department, Delhi received 228 mm of rainfall from 8:30 am on June 27 to 8:30 am on June 28. This is the highest 24-hour rainfall in June since 1936 when 235.5 mm was recorded.

Due to the rain, water levels in the Yamuna River are expected to rise in the coming days, prompting authorities to issue an alert to residents of villages along the riverbanks in Noida.

These villages experienced severe flooding during last year’s monsoon season, causing significant inconvenience to residents of both Delhi and Noida.
