The national capital recorded a temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius on New Year’s morning, three notches above the season's average.
The India Meteorological Department reported a visibility of 700 meters at Safdarjung and 1,200 meters at Palam during the morning.
According to the weather agency, dense fog was observed in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, East Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar. Moderate fog was reported in isolated pockets of West Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura.
The IMD forecasts cold day conditions in isolated pockets over Punjab from January 2 to 4, over Haryana from January 1 to 4, and over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh from December 31 to January 1, 2024. Additionally, Uttarakhand is expected to experience dense fog at various places in the state until January 2. The dense fog is likely to persist over most parts of North West, Central, and East India, as per the IMD.
