DPIIT, BHASHINI Ink MoU to Expand Multilingual Access in Investment Ecosystem

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen multilingual digital access across India’s investment and business ecosystem.

The partnership aims to enhance access to government information, startup services, policy communication and citizen-centric services in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution through the BHASHINI platform.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the collaboration will enable multilingual access across DPIIT’s digital platforms through initiatives such as BHASHINI Udyat, Mitra, Appmitra and Pravakta. The partnership will also support translation APIs, voice-enabled technologies, multilingual glossaries, domain-specific language models and language datasets.

The initiative is expected to reduce language barriers for entrepreneurs, startups, investors, businesses and citizens, making government services and information more accessible across India’s diverse linguistic landscape.

Officials said the collaboration will focus on strengthening multilingual artificial intelligence models and language technologies tailored to sectors such as investment promotion, industrial development, innovation and entrepreneurship. The move is aimed at enabling seamless voice-first multilingual interactions and improving user access to digital services.

The two organisations will also work on language data contributions, awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives and wider adoption of multilingual AI tools among institutions and stakeholders associated with DPIIT.

The agreement was signed under the “BHASHINI Seva/Sanchalan – A BHASHINI Sahayogi Program”, which seeks to promote multilingual governance and service delivery through India’s National Language Digital Public Infrastructure.

The Ministry said the collaboration reinforces BHASHINI’s role in advancing inclusive and AI-driven digital governance while supporting broader participation in economic growth, entrepreneurship and investment promotion across the country.
