Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India’s military action during Operation Sindoor demonstrated the capability and credibility of the country’s defence platforms, asserting that the “echoes” of strikes on terrorist camps were heard across the world.
Addressing the Indian community at the “Melbourne Meets Modi” event, the Prime Minister said the operation showcased India’s growing defence capabilities.
“The world is witnessing the capability and credibility of India’s defence platforms. You must have seen the demo during Operation Sindoor. The explosions that were taking place at terrorist bases, their echoes were heard across the world,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister then asked the audience, “Did you feel proud on the action taken against terrorist camps?”, drawing loud applause from the gathering.
Highlighting India’s manufacturing push, the PM said the “Make in India” initiative has evolved into a global brand over the past 12 years.
“Our mobile phones and electronics have reached markets worldwide. Our automobiles and pharmaceutical products have expanded their global footprint,” he said.
The Prime Minister also underlined India’s role as a first responder in humanitarian crises, saying the country extends assistance without discrimination.
Referring to relief operations in countries affected by natural disasters, he cited India’s response to the recent earthquake in Venezuela, as well as assistance provided to Türkiye and Syria after devastating earthquakes. He also mentioned Operation Brahma in Myanmar and Operation Sagar Bandhu in Sri Lanka.
“When India extends a helping hand, it does not look at passports; when India sends aid, it does not look at the colour of the passport. That is why the world places such great trust in India,” PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi also thanked Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for attending the community event and recalled their joint appearance at a similar gathering in Sydney in 2023.
“You were with us in Sydney, and today you have joined the Indian community here in Melbourne as well. From Ahmedabad, home to the world’s largest cricket stadium, to Melbourne, with its iconic stadium, we have been together at both places,” he said, adding that Albanese had won the hearts of the Indian community with his speeches.
