ESI scheme records 17.80 lakh new enrollments in October

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) recorded 17.80 lakh new employee enrollments under the ESI Scheme in October, the ministry of labour and employment said.

The month saw the addition of 21,588 new establishments under the ESI Scheme, extending social security coverage to more workers.

Among the total new registrations in October 2024, 8.50 lakh workers belonged to the age group of up to 25 years, accounting for approximately 47.75% of all new enrollments.

Additionally, 3.52 lakh female employees were registered under the scheme, further reflecting the inclusion of women in the workforce. For the first time, 42 transgender employees were also registered under the ESI Scheme in October 2024.

A year-on-year comparison shows an increase of 0.52 lakh registrations, marking a growth of 3% compared to October 2023, when 17.28 lakh registrations were recorded.
