French President Macron and World Leaders Celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day

French President Emmanuel Macron led a chorus of international leaders in congratulating India on its 78th Independence Day. In a message shared on social media platform X, Macron expressed his eagerness to work with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on achieving the ambitious goals set for the strategic partnership between France and India.

“Congratulations to the Indian people on your 78th Independence Day!” Macron wrote, reminiscing about his warm welcome during his visit to India in January.

Several other world leaders and diplomats joined in extending their wishes to India.

Slovak Ambassador to India, Robert Maxian, shared a video saluting the heroes who fought for India’s freedom and wishing for the country’s continued prosperity and peace.

Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay expressed hope for the continued strengthening of the special friendship between Bhutan and India. “Wishing the government and people of India a very happy Independence Day! May the special friendship between grow ever stronger,” Bhutan PM said on X.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba extended warm greetings to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and the people of India, expressing hope for continued strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Nepal and India.

Norwegian Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener, shared a video message extending wishes in both English and Hindi. Stener said, “Happy Independence Day India! With love from Norway!” and also conveyed greetings in Hindi, “svtNtrtaa divs kii haardik shubhkaamnaaeN!”

Sweden’s Ambassador to India, Jan Thesleff also extended best wishes to the people and government of India on the occasion of India’s Independence Day.

Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong also shared some pictures of flag hoisting at Red Fort and extended its warm congratulations to India on the 78th Indian Independence Day.

“Warm congratulations on 78th Indian Independence Day. Wonderful speech by PM Modi at the Red Fort,” Xu Feihong said on X.

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu congratulated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, and the people of India on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day. “On the occasion of India’s Independence Day, I extend heartfelt congratulations to President @rashtrapatibhvn , Prime Minister @narendramodi , and the people of India,” Muizzu said in a post on X.

The Independence Day celebration saw Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time. This marks Modi as the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to achieve this milestone.
