Gadkari lays foundation of 29 highway projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Punjab

Taking Punjab on the path of development, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 29 national highway projects with an investment of more than Rs 4,000 crore in Hoshiarpur.

The unveiled projects are poised to redefine the transportation landscape, ensuring smooth traffic flow and significantly boosting the efficiency of freight transportation. Minister Gadkari highlighted that the upgraded infrastructure would not only catalyze economic development but also enhance the quality of life in the project areas.

Further enhancing regional connectivity is the construction of a 4-lane Ladowal Bypass in Ludhiana, connecting GT Road and National Highway 5. This will establish a direct link between Ludhiana-Ferozepur Highway and Delhi-Jalandhar Highway (National Highway 44), elevating accessibility in the region.

Critical projects like the 4-laning of the Talwandi Bhai to Firozpur section and the Firozpur bypass will significantly improve connectivity, fostering safety and efficient movement along the highways.

Minister Gadkari, signaling a forward-looking approach, announced additional projects to further fortify road connectivity in the region. Among them is a proposed 45 km, 4-lane bypass at Mukerian, Dasuiya, and Bhogpur on the Jalandhar to Pathankot route, estimated to cost Rs 1600 crore.

Additionally, a 30 km, 4-lane bypass from Tanda to Hoshiarpur, projected to cost Rs 800 crore, promises to enhance regional accessibility.

These ambitious initiatives are expected to stimulate economic growth, generate employment opportunities, and streamline transportation across the region. Moreover, the heightened connectivity is poised to amplify tourism, directly impacting religious pilgrimage sites and strengthening inter-state connectivity in the project areas.
