Golaghat Tragedy: PM Modi offers condolences and relief

He offered his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the mishap.

At least 12 people were killed and 30 others were injured on Wednesday when a bus carrying over 40 passengers collided with a coal-laden truck in Golaghat.

PM Modi declared an ex-gratia amount of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to be provided to the next of kin of each deceased individual. Additionally, an amount of ₹50,000 will be granted to each of the injured persons to support their medical treatment and recovery.

Condolences from President Droupadi Murmu:

Joining in expressing grief over the accident, President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved families. In a statement posted on X, President Murmu lamented the sudden loss of many lives and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured individuals.

Assam Chief Minister’s Response:

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed profound anguish at the horrific bus accident that occurred in Dergaon, Golaghat. Offering his condolences to the affected families, Sarma assured that the local administration is extending all necessary support to the injured individuals.
