GST collections surge in October 2025; imports boost annual rise

India’s GST mop-up clocked a new high in October 2025, crossing the ₹1.95 lakh crore mark amid a festive-season upswing and policy adjustments. The Revenue Department released data showing that Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for the month stood at ₹1,95,936 crore, up 4.6 per cent compared to October 2024.

Domestic GST collections (excluding imports) grew by 2 per cent — rising from ₹1,42,251 crore in October 2024 to ₹1,45,052 crore in October 2025.

Meanwhile, GST from imports surged by nearly 13 per cent year-on-year, reflecting continued strength in trade activity.

Net GST revenue (after refunds) also edged higher: for October 2025, the net figure stood at ₹1,69,002 crore, showing a 0.6% increase over September 2025, and a 7.1 per cent rise over October last year.

State-wise data highlights that Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Haryana contributed over 40 per cent of the total GST revenue.

The scale of refunds issued too rose sharply: total GST refunds in October rose by nearly 40 per cent compared to October 2024. Domestic refunds increased by 26.5 per cent, and import-related refunds by 55.3 per cent.
