The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), in collaboration with Gujarat Tourism, has launched a premium air-conditioned Vista Dome bus service at the Statue of Unity to enhance the travel experience for tourists visiting the state.
The initiative, undertaken under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, aims to promote tourism by offering visitors panoramic views of Gujarat’s natural landscapes, historical sites and cultural attractions.
According to the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), five AC Vista Dome Coach buses have been manufactured for the first time in India in accordance with international standards.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first Vista Dome bus service at the Statue of Unity and also took a ride in the specially designed vehicle.
The buses feature a transparent dome-shaped roof, allowing passengers to enjoy views of the sky and surrounding landscapes while travelling in air-conditioned comfort.
Each bus can accommodate 23 passengers and is equipped with revolving, fully adjustable reclining seats, along with a separate seat for the driver.
The coaches also offer several amenities, including a premium LED Smart TV, CCTV cameras, tea and coffee-making facilities, a mini refrigerator and mobile charging points.
For passenger safety, the buses are equipped with an advanced fire detection and suppression system, toughened glass and emergency hammers.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said similar services would be introduced in phases at other tourist destinations and heritage routes across Gujarat to provide visitors with a more comfortable and engaging travel experience.
The exteriors of the buses feature graphics highlighting prominent tourist attractions, including the Statue of Unity, Akshardham, Somnath Temple, Dwarka Temple, Gir National Park, Adalaj Stepwell, the White Rann of Dhordo, the Tarnetar Fair and Vijay Vilas Palace.
According to the CMO, each AC Vista Dome Coach bus costs Rs 2.19 crore. Of the five buses planned under the initiative, two have been inaugurated, while the remaining three are expected to be introduced within the next two months.
Passengers can book tickets for the service through the official GSRTC website.
The state government expects the initiative to improve tourist transport facilities and offer domestic and international visitors a new way to explore Gujarat’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and historical landmarks.
The service is also part of Gujarat’s broader efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure and promote the state as a major travel destination.
