Hamas seeks truce extension with conditions, Israel open to longer pause

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is open to truce extension during his phone talk with U.S. President Joe Biden, adding that the Israeli defense forces will resume military operations immediately after the truce ends.

The overall situation in the Gaza Strip remained relatively calm on Sunday, with sporadic clashes erupting between Palestinians and Israeli troops at different places of West Bank and Gaza.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society(PRCS) stated that prior to the release of Palestinian detainees on Sunday, the Israeli military had thrown tear gas and opened fire on Palestinians who had gathered in Beitunia, located in the West Bank, causing injuries to three individuals.

Another city, Jenin, of West Bank, also saw tear gas being tossed by Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint.

In central Gaza, civilians near the Maghazi refugee camp were attacked by Israeli soldiers on the same day, causing one death and one injury, according to the PRCS.

The Israeli military has not responded to these incidents.

Israel and Hamas have completed three rounds of hostage swap as of Sunday, as part of the four-day truce, which was reached last Thursday mediated by Qatar and Egypt.
