India and Jamaica explore collaboration on digital social protection systems

A high-level bilateral meeting was held in New York following the 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development. India’s delegation, led by Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, engaged in discussions with the Jamaican team, headed by Dione Jennings, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

The talks focused on exploring potential collaboration in digitizing social protection systems and the role of technology in enhancing these frameworks.

Both sides emphasised the importance of using digital solutions to ensure efficient, transparent, and impactful service delivery in social welfare programs. The Indian delegation also held discussions with Zambia regarding the use of the Poshan Tracker to monitor social and nutritional outcomes across Anganwadi Centres in India.

This meeting reflects India’s growing engagement with other nations in sharing technological advancements to support social development.
