India, Israel sign MoU to boost defence cooperation and technology sharing

India and Israel on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation to further strengthen their strategic partnership and enhance collaboration in advanced technologies, co-development, and co-production of defence systems. The agreement was inked during the 17th meeting of the India–Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defence Cooperation, held in Tel Aviv.

The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence, Maj Gen (Res) Amir Baram. The new MoU provides a unified vision and policy framework to deepen the already robust defence ties between the two nations.

According to the Defence Ministry, the MoU identifies a wide range of priority areas, including strategic dialogues, training and defence industrial cooperation, and collaboration in Science & Technology, Research & Development, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security. The agreement will enable sharing of advanced technologies and promote joint research, co-development, and co-production of next-generation defence solutions.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed ongoing defence cooperation initiatives and acknowledged the mutual benefits derived from their long-standing partnership. The delegations discussed new avenues for collaboration, particularly in high-technology sectors and enhancing operational capabilities.

The two countries also exchanged views on shared security challenges, including terrorism, and reaffirmed their collective commitment to combat global threats.
