India and Pakistan exchanged information regarding their nuclear installations and facilities through diplomatic channels in New Delhi and Islamabad, according to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The exchange was conducted under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between the two countries. The agreement, signed on December 31, 1988, and in effect since January 27, 1991, mandates both nations to notify each other about the nuclear installations and facilities covered by the agreement on the first of January each calendar year.

This marks the 33rd consecutive exchange of such lists between India and Pakistan, with the first exchange taking place on January 1, 1992.

The recent exchange occurred amid ongoing tensions in their relations, attributed to various issues, including disputes over Kashmir and concerns related to cross-border terrorism.
